This application shows how REA JET DOD 2.0 can be adapted for special coding and marking requirements where graphic elements are applied directly onto three-
dimensional painted components with a clean, sharp and premium finish.
Application Overview
The requirement was to apply a graphic design directly onto a 3D painted surface.
Instead of using film application or manual masking, the marking had to be printed
contact-free directly onto the component.
The goal was to achieve a clean decorative result with high visual quality, sharp edges
and controlled coating output.
Main Challenge
The application required very high precision because the surface was already painted
and visible on the final product.

A highly viscous thixotropic paint was used, which required controlled pressure and
accurate nozzle performance during the application process.
The REA JET Solution
The solution was based on REA JET DOD 2.0, specially adapted for this demanding
application.The system used a modified DOD configuration with RPS DOD 32 nozzles SKP 130 µm,
special tubing, special coating and a flow-optimized ink chamber. The print head was
able to apply the required coating volume at a constant pressure of maximum 1.5 bar.
Each nozzle could be controlled individually, allowing targeted application of every paint
droplet and supporting a sharp, controlled graphic result.
Why DOD 2.0 Was Suitable
REA JET DOD 2.0 is designed for large character industrial coding and marking. It can
print text, data and logos with a print height up to 140 mm per print head, and it can be
configured with 7, 16 or 32-nozzle print heads depending on the application.
For special applications, the system can also process a wide range of fluid media,
making it suitable not only for standard ink marking but also for adapted coating and
graphic marking processes.
