Egg carton production requires clear, accurate and flexible marking. Best-before dates,
weight class information and variable production data must be printed directly on the
carton without slowing down the packing process.
For this application, the customer required a modern system to automatically mark
28,000 egg boxes per day, replacing manual marking. The cartons are printed contact-
free with the best-before date and variable data such as weight class.
Application Overview
The application is designed for egg boxes made from porous cardboard material. The
products can be 6, 10 or 12 egg boxes, transported in parallel on roller conveyors at a
speed of 36 m/min.
The marking is carried out from top down while the cartons are in a stopped position.
The print heads move back and forth on a linear motion unit, allowing the system to
print in both directions.
