In today’s globalized economy, companies face the growing challenge of protecting their products and brands from counterfeiting. SICPA, a pioneer in the development of security solutions, recognized the need for a revolutionary technology that would take this protection to a new level.

The development of an effective counterfeit protection technology for SICPA presented REA with a number of demanding technical challenges. The solution to be developed not only had to ensure the highest precision in the application of the taggants, but also be flexible enough to be used in various industries. This required a system that was both robust and adaptable. The special requirements included

  • Universal applicability: the system had to be able to apply the taggant to a wide range of materials, including: Paper, plastic, metal, wood
  • Precision and consistency: A consistently high quality of taggant application was essential to ensure reliable authentication.
  • Industrial suitability: The solution had to be robust enough to withstand the demanding conditions of industrial production environments.
  • Flexibility: Adaptability to different production speeds and processes was a key factor for successful deployment in different industries.
  • Product integrity: The application of the taggants must not affect the properties or appearance of the products to be protected.
  • OEM compatibility: As a future OEM product, the system had to be designed to integrate seamlessly with SICPA's own security solution.

Overcoming these complex requirements required not only technical know-how, but also a deep understanding of the needs of different industries and the ability to develop innovative solutions. REA was faced with the task of creating a technology that met both SICPA’s high standards and the versatile requirements of its end customers.
